Population:
The 2000 Census shows the Borough of Ellwood
City to have 8,688 residents, including over 3,500 home owners and 2,300
families. The borough resides in the southern most portion of Lawrence
County and accounts for approximately nine percent of the county's 94,000
plus population. Factoring in adjacent boroughs and townships within a
ten mile radius, Ellwood City and its surrounding communities comprise a
population over 36,000, nearly forty percent of the Lawrence County
population.

New Castle (26,309 pop.), an approximately
8 square mile large city located twenty miles north of Ellwood City.
Business:
The Borough of Ellwood City has seen its
business scene transpire from the booming industrial tubing mills of the early
20th Century, to the popular steel milling industries during the middle of
the century to a more modern industrial scene in the 21st Century.
Ellwood City still has manufacturers and industrial mills operating today, but
more white-collar businesses have planted deep roots in the city for many
years to come.

heat treating, and machining operations. Known worldwide as an industry

concentric and eccentric contoured forgings and single cross-section
products from carbon, alloy, stainless and tool steels in weights up to
80,000 lbs., lengths up to 50' and diameters to 90". Ellwood City Forge operates two production
plants are located in Ellwood City and the other in New Castle Pennsylvania.
