Police Department
The Ellwood City Police Department is directed by
the Chief with
a Lieutenant and nine full-time Patrolmen. The Police Department’s mission is to
protect and serve thereby enhancing the quality of life and providing a safe
community environment.

Fire
Department
Fire and Rescue service is provided by the Chief and 40 volunteer
firefighters. The fire station is manned by one firefighter around the clock
with volunteer support for immediate response to all alarms. The department
has two engines and a ladder truck, in addition to a fully equipped rescue
utility vehicle. The department is involved in a weekly training session and
is an active participant in an area mutual aid system.

Ellwood City Hospital
The Ellwood City Hospital has
been a part of the Ellwood City community since 1913 when a 10-bed
hospital operated by one doctor opened in a private home on Crescent
Avenue.
Today, our Hospital has progressed to a modern complex with a newly
expanded emergency room, a 46-bed medical surgical unit, a 6-bed
intensive coronary care unit, an 8-bed maternity unit, a 10-bed
geriatric psychiatry unit, and a 25-bed skilled nursing unit – as well
as a variety of diagnostic and surgical services.
The hospitals general visiting hours for those over the age of 14 are
from Noon to 8:30 p.m., ICCU Visitation is 10 minutes of each hour for
immediate family members only, and maternity visitation is from 1 to
8:30 p.m.
